Writing and Typing

Its been a while since I last received a handwritten letter from a friend. Nowadays I seem to get hastily sent text messages with emojis than handwritten letters accompanied by thoughtful gifts and pens. I'm not sure when or why this shift, in communication culture happened. Its quite saddening. Enough I find myself appreciating letters more even though I can't quite put my finger on the exact reason. Is there such a difference, between handwritten letters and text messages composed on a mobile phone?

I thought that when people write a diary about their day, they usually use paper, and when they want to write something quickly and concisely, they use electronic devices for the convenience of easy editing. Writing on paper, to me, is a more labor-intensive process because it involves physically leaving the text in a specific space. However, it holds a greater sense of 'preservation' compared to digitally written text. Even when making revisions, the traces are left on the paper, so what I've edited is recorded there. Writing on digital media is always convenient for me since I can do it easily with my mobile phone, which I always carry with me. Even if I make a mistake, I can use the 'delete' button for seamless edits without any visible marks.

I asked 20 people to write freely on a given topic, with ten of them using pen and paper, and the other ten using a mobile phone notepad. I conducted this study to explore the differences in language recording based on the medium used for recording by people.

The experimental process is as follows:

When I closely observe scenes in my life, I often find them resembling a work of art. In those moments I grab my camera, capturing them using the highest level of zoom. The compositions formed by the interplay of object shapes accompanied by their textures, colors and the marks left by time are genuinely captivating.

If I consider beautiful scenes found in everyday life as one painting, what feelings would people get from it? I collected interesting scenes where two or more textures are overlapped and decided to attach texture word expressions that suit them.

Tic-tac-toe, undoubtedly, is a game characterized by its simplicity with enjoyment. Nonetheless by approaching it with a mindset and innovative concepts I can always find ways to have an exciting experience, with the game. In this context, tic-tac-toe assumes the role of a platform for exploring possibilities and igniting curiosity and inspiration. Adopting such a perspective could support serving as a catalyst by unlocking my creative potential.

Concept.

The most easily accessible form of "interaction" art in the physical world is shadows. When motion is added to materials or shapes that obstruct light, it creates beautiful forms that cannot be replicated with a computer. I worked on the task of taking this naturally occurring "art" and transferring it to the digital realm, giving rise to a secondary creative work.

  1. The appearance when all sides are combined.
  2. The representation of the shadow pattern as lines.
  3. The appearance when the edges of the surfaces are represented as lines.
